The Building and Licensing Department is located on the first floor of the Courthouse Annex Building (Room 105).  This office has the primary responsibility of issuing building permits and maintaining flood plain management for the unincorporated area of Liberty County as well as the municipalities of Allenhurst, Flemington, Gum Branch, Midway, Riceboro, and Walthourville.  This office also issues occupational tax certificates for businesses that are located within the unincorporated area of Liberty County. 

Permits are required to construct single family houses, commercial buildings, churches, accessory buildings, renovations, signs, mobile homes, and demolitions or relocations of any of these.  This office conducts all inspections required by the building codes of the State of Georgia for these projects.
